Giants have a QB controversy

Oct 19, 2026

The New York Giants have a quarterback question to address. Jameis Winston is 2-1-1 in his four starts under center in place of the injured Jaxson Dart, but the team also traded for J.J. McCarthy last month, who received his first extensive action as a Giant during Sunday's 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Impact:

After Winston threw his second interception, HC John Harbaugh made the decision to replace him with McCarthy. McCarthy came in and led three straight scoring drives, and had the Giants in position to send the game to overtime. McCarthy completed 11 of 21 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown and one interception. It's possible the team will go with McCarthy next week as a result, but nothing official has come from the Giants. Those in superflex and multi-QB leagues, or very deep single QB leagues, should probably pick up McCarthy if he's even still on our wire, even if no decision is made by the time your league goes through waivers. Even if it's not this week, it seems like McCarthy will eventually get some starts.

Packers TE Tucker Kraft seems to survive hit to leg

Ryan Wood on X

Tucker Kraft was walking a little gingerly, but he made his way onto the field to congratulate Jordan Love for his TD sneak. Kraft was still on the sideline, so Love took it himself to give #Packers a 17-0 lead.

Fantasy Impact:

Reports say Kraft took a hit to his thigh with his foot planted that seemed to affect his knee. Kraft missed a drive but was back on the field and finished with a 5-37-0 line on eight targets. It was great news he returned but may be worth monitoring this week in practice reports.

Caleb Williams returning to lineup Sunday

Mike Garafolo

Oct 17 · 5:34 PM EDT

The Bears are expected to start Caleb Williams at quarterback Sunday against the Falcons.

Fantasy Impact:

Williams missed three games with a hamstring injury, but took the starter reps in practice this week and is ready to make his return to the lineup. The Bears got up and down play while Williams was out, though Case Keenum more than held his own against the Eagles in Week 3. Williams is our QB7 this week.

Eagles placing Jalen Hurts on injured reserve

The Eagles are placing QB Jalen Hurts (blood clots) on injured reserve.

Fantasy Impact:

This is ultimately the best move for Hurts and the Eagles. The most important thing for Hurts right now is to take care of his superficial blood clot in his calf. The Eagles discussed this with numerous doctors and experts and ultimately came to what was the best decision for all parties involved. This is about more than football right now for Hurts. It is unclear how long Hurts will be out for, but again, the important thing here is that he getting treatment and the Eagles believe this is treatable. As for the Eagles on the field, Tanner McKee will take over as the starting quarterback, beginning Sunday against the Panthers.
