Jets doctors will not clear QB Mike White for contact before Sunday’s game vs. Detroit, and thus Zach Wilson will start against the Lions. White wanted to play and has practiced, but Jets doctors are not signing off. Thus, Wilson is back as the Jets’ starting QB.

By any statistical measure you want to use, Zach Wilson has been the worst quarterback in the league when he's been on the field in 2022. The last time he saw the field, he completed 38% of his passes while his leading receiver —Denzel Mims— converted one of his five targets for 34 yards. This is terrible news for all Jets' fantasy options.

The Jets offense has been better with White under center but the wins haven't necessarily come. The expectations are White will start this week in a nice matchup against the Lions, but Wilson does have the draft capital so it's not a surprise he's creeping back up the depth chart. White is also dealing with a rib injury. Wilson's climb could be more about Flacco struggling in relief of White this past week against the Bills.

Mike White is dealing with a rib injury after he was rocked throughout the Jets’ 20-12 loss at Buffalo, including being forced to leave twice because of a pair of particularly rough — but legal — hits. He went to the hospital after the game for precautionary exams, was cleared and flew home with the team.

Coach Robert Saleh said White’s rib injury will make him day to day, but he’s “hopeful” he’ll start Sunday against Detroit. White is planning to be under center with the Jets (7-6) trying to continue their playoff push.

But, nah, I feel good.” Seems like White will be good to go for Week 15, but of course keep an eye on his practice status this week. He's got a potential high-scoring matchup with the Lions. He's played well since taking over for Wilson and has brought fantasy relevance to players like Wilson and Moore.

We're not even sure if Zach Wilson is the immediate backup right now, but even a shift to Joe Flacco would be a downgrade for the offense and corresponding fantasy pieces. We'll keep an eye on White throughout the week.

This should come as no surprise, as Mike White is operating on a completely different planet than Zach Wilson at the moment. Jets fantasy options are thriving in the face of adversity, including Garrett Wilson's 257 receiving yards on 22 targets over the last two weeks. Even though White didn't find the end zone in Week 13, he currently sits as the QB6 over his two starts.

It’s no secret the Jets’ wide receivers weren’t happy with how they were being used (or targeted) with Wilson at quarterback. Things changed with White against the Bears, who admittedly had a secondary decimated by injuries. Elijah Moore, whose story of displeasure has been well-told by now, even got involved. Garrett Wilson was targeted early and often and finished with five catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

The story pointed out Wilson has scored four touchdowns this season, none thrown by Zach Wilson. Moore had only two targets, but they were good ones: a 42-yard catch-and-run in the second quarter, and a 22-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The story also speculated that with Davis (one catch, 9 yards) back in the lineup, the Jets look loaded at wide receiver — and maybe White is the right quarterback to get them the ball when they’re open.

It looks like New York is sticking Zach Wilson —the least accurate quarterback in the NFL during the 2022 season— in time out. It couldn't possibly have gotten worse for the Jets' skill position group, so hopefully, this provides a boon for the offense as a whole.

Zach Wilson participated in practice on Wednesday for the first time since he hurt his knee in August. Wilson had meniscus surgery four weeks ago to address the injury and has been rehabbing away from the field until this week.

Flacco was already announced as the starter for Week 2. Saleh said before the opener that Wilson won’t be available until at least Week 4. Sticking to that plan would give Wilson three weeks of practice before he would make his 2022 debut against the Steelers, the story concluded. Flacco was nearly pulled in Week 1 and the crowd was chanting for White to replace him. Flacco may not make it to Wilson's return.
