WR Elijah Moore returned to the Jets team facility on Monday, and coach Robert Saleh expects him to be active for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Moore was excused from the team last week following his trade request.

You can follow whichever narrative you'd like; either the team attempts to placate Moore by involving him more in the offense, or they could simply keep him on the bench and incorporate other receivers in their fledgling passing offense. However you see the situation playing out, he's best kept on fantasy benches in Week 8, at the least.

Saleh would go on to say he "doesn't think it's fair to ask him to play considering his mental state right now." Tough scene. Teammate Denzel Mims has been practicing at Moore's "X" spot, which could give him an opportunity to take advantage of the absence. Mims hasn't logged a snap in 2022 and has 31 receptions on his resume since being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The news comes as a shock until you look at Moore's usage since the return of Zach Wilson, including back-to-back season-lows in routes run and six combined targets in three games. Moore was almost fantasy relevant through three weeks, coming in as the overall WR64 before Wilson's return. Since then, he has scored 8.6 half-PPR points, clocking in as the WR86.

Denzel Mims has requested a trade from the Jets, per his agent.

We have Mims buried on the depth chart behind Moore, Wilson, Davis and Berrios. Mims has likely just fallen out of favor with a coaching staff that didn't draft him and his ceiling with the Jets seems to be a WR3 if he can pass Davis and Berrios. He'll likely have some interested teams but his landing spot will go a long way in determining his new fantasy value.

Elijah Moore continues to be one of the Jets’ stars of training camp, no matter who is throwing him the ball. He seems to make at least one big play every practice.

If it was in question, Moore seems to have firmly established himself as this team’s No. 1 receiver. He’s in line for a big year.

The story said on Tuesday, his best catch was on a back shoulder throw from Joe Flacco during 7-on-7 when Moore had to come back to the ball and caught it with one arm. Overall the signs are surely there, he had a great start to camp last year and flashed in the middle of the season before getting hurt. We rank Moore 40th among our WRs, but he could end up being a steal in the middle rounds of drafts.

The New York Jets will be without RB Tevin Coleman (concussion) for Week 14's game against the New Orleans Saints. WR Elijah Moore (quad) is questionable.

Coleman has missed majority of 2021 for a myriad of injuries. Moore could be in line for another strong game against a passive Saints secondary so long as he can manage his quad injury.

Moore had already been emerging as the team's WR1 and that should continue the rest of the season with Crowder perhaps the team's WR2. Other snaps and targets likely go to some combination of Cole, Berrios and Mims. The struggling Zach Wilson at QB will continue limit fantasy values of all Jet WRs.

Rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore‘s recent play has been a bright spot.

“Elijah has been getting better every week. I’m really pumped for him. He’s starting to get into a rhythm,” Saleh said, via Joey Chandler of NJ.com. “He had the explosive play which we all know that he is capable of. He’s stacking up days. He’s only going to get better. Moore was getting a ton of attention in camp before an injury quieted that down. But Moore is on another hot stretch and it looks like maybe the camp hype was warranted. Moore scored a touchdown for the third straight week during Sunday’s 24-17 loss to the Dolphins and posted eight catches for 141 yards in the losing effort. He has 24 catches for 336 yards over the last four games, the story said.
