Week 8 brought some strange stat line for quarterbacks. Only four players at the position threw for at least 300 yards, one of whom was Deshaun Watson, who did not record a touchdown. There were 14 quarterbacks who had at least two touchdown passes, but there were also four who had at least two interceptions. That includes Joe Burrow, who finished with 462 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and three interceptions.

Week 9 is light on bye weeks, with only two teams being off. They are the Titans and Steelers, neither of which has a great quarterback option for fantasy football. Still, with Lamar Jackson (thumb) sidelined again, some fantasy managers might still need a streaming option.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data.

To provide advice you can implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Week 8 Recap

It wasn’t a great week for streaming quarterbacks. Our best performer was Geno Smith, who finished as QB13 with the Jets involved in a shootout with the Raiders. He finished with 290 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, marking his second straight game with multiple touchdowns.

The game between the Buccaneers and Falcons was impacted by rain, leaving both Baker Mayfield and Michael Penix Jr. with disappointing stat lines. Mayfield did not complete any of his three pass attempts during Tampa’s run-heavy effort, finishing with four carries for 14 yards. Penix attempted 24 passes, but finished with only 125 yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions.
