Fantasy Football Tight End Streaming Week 6: First-Year Studs
We’re five weeks into the season, and the tight end streaming pool continues to evolve as new names rise and old ones fade. Injuries have thinned the position even further, but the influx of rookie options keeps things fresh for those of us still working the wire. Several first-year players have started to carve out real roles, offering both short-term opportunity and long-term intrigue.
Another key factor at play is 4for4’s schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA), which now reflects a full month of games. With the data set stabilizing, matchup evaluations have become far more reliable, giving us a clearer picture of which defenses to attack when streaming. Between the start of bye weeks and a growing list of tight end injuries, managers are now balancing short-term patchwork plays with longer-term upside stashes. This week’s options include steady floor contributors, touchdown-dependent veterans, and a few rookies whose usage trends are beginning to turn into legitimate fantasy value.

Week 5 Recap
A 22-yard, first-quarter reception from Brenton Strange is all we were allotted on Monday Night Football, as he spent most of the rest of the game on the sidelines with a hip injury that could put him in question for the immediate future. But outside of that, we did quite well in the TE streaming streets. Darren Waller continued his comeback tour, Harold Fannin found the end zone, and Mason Taylor led his team in targets. Let’s keep the train rolling.
Top Plays
- Harold Fannin - 9.3 half-PPR points (TE15)
- Brenton Strange - 2.7 points (TE35)
Deep Plays
- Darren Waller - 16.3 half-PPR points (TE5)
- Mason Taylor - 13.2 points (TE9)
- Tommy Tremble - 1.2 points (TE47)

Mason Taylor vs. Broncos (14%)
The bad news? Nearly half (48.4%) of Justin Fields’ 283 passing yards came in the fourth quarter. The good news? The Jets are a bad football team, and we should have plenty more garbage time opportunities, whether Fields hangs on to the job or not. Mason Taylor was —once again— a big beneficiary of his team trailing, notching five of his nine catches for 44 yards in the final period. While it sure would be nice to get some early-game contributions out of the rookie (only three first-quarter receptions on the year), we’ll take our fantasy points any way we can get them.
This week, the Jets sit at 7.5-point underdogs. Whether it's Fields or Tyrod Taylor throwing the ball deep into the game, Taylor will look to build on his huge 12-target opportunity from Week 5. With Josh Reynolds, Arian Smith, and Allen Lazard competing for a No. 2 role behind Garrett Wilson in this offense, it seems like the second-rounder has a clear runway to keep them all at bay.
