Eagles place WR Britain Covey (shoulder) on IR

Philadelphia has placed receiver Britain Covey on injured reserve after he suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday’s win over New Orleans.

Covey had to exit the game in the first half and was unable to return. He has caught seven passes for 34 yards so far this season. He’s also returned one punt for 9 yards.

Fantasy Impact:

Normally this may not be big news but the Eagles were involving Covey over the last two weeks before his injury. The other reason to pay attention is Brown is dealing with a hamstring issue and is in question for Week 4 - as is Smith who is in concussion protocol. That leaves Dotson, Wilson and Campbell as - possibly - the Eagles top-three WRs heading into Week 4. Even if that's the case, look for Goedert and Barkley to be heavily involved against the Bucs. Brown does have a chance to play but it's another situation to monitor this week.

Eagles Beat: Look for team to use RB Will Shipley in passing game

With Saquon Barkley out today at practice, beat reporter Zach Berman wrote it's clear the Eagles love Will Shipley's skill set in the passing game.

Fantasy Impact:

Berman went on to say the Eagles used Shipley a lot in the slot during the spring, and he was one of the top backs in this year's draft in terms of receiving ability. Despite having D'Andre Swift last season, the Eagles didn't use their RBs much in the passing game as they traditionally have over the last many years. However, that could change this year with new OC Kellen Moore.

Speaking with NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero at the Annual League Meeting on Sunday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni noted how excited he is about the addition.

""I'm really excited about Saquon and the things that he can do," Sirianni said. "You know he's such a dynamic football player. Both as a running back and also the things he can do as a pass catcher. He's going to bring an element to our offense and to our team. As much as we see him, all the highlights that we see on the tape -- from my understanding and all of our homework he's a good leader and teammate, as well. To be able to add that into our locker room, and not only the playmaking ability, but the person, is really important."

Fantasy Impact:

Barkley should fill the role(s) of not only D'Andre Swift, but also Boston Scott, as the team let both walk in free agency while signing the veteran. Barkley is more than capable at filling both spots on the lineup card, and could be eating into Gainwell's touches as well. As long as he's healthy, he's a locked-in RB1.

Former Giants RB Saquon Barkley reached agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75M and includes $26M fully guaranteed at signing.

Fantasy Impact:

Barkley switches sides of the NFC East battle and lands in one of the best spots possible. His pure upside won't be quite as monstrous in Philly, as he competes for touches with legitimate options and will take a back seat to a number of "tush-pushes" but he still finds himself in a great offense. He's locked in as an RB1.
