Vikings TE Irv Smith Jr. (groin, back, doubtful) missed practice again Friday and is doubtful for Week 12. Smith is doubtful and it doesn't look like Adam Thielen will be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list in time to play against the Panthers. In the five games since 2017 that Thielen missed, Kyle Rudolph has averaged 0.80 touchdowns per game. He posted 4-63 (5) in Week 10 with Smith sidelined. Thielen and Smith have combined for 99 targets (9.9 targets per game) this year, so Rudolph could walk into a big role in Week 12.
Vikings WR Adam Thielen is not expected to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
No Thielen would be a huge loss for the Vikings pass offense. Thielen has 13 touchdowns this season. Tajae Sharpe and Olabisi Johnson would get more snaps, with Chad Beebe being the likely receiver to start in place of Thielen.
Vikings are awaiting word on WR Adam Thielen’s status after positive -- and negative -- COVID-19 tests.
Pelissero said Thielen's status is "up in the air." The NFL and the medical experts are continuing to sort through Thielen's situation. Owners will have to continue to monitor the status of Thielen's testing leading up to Week 12.
