Vikings Beat: Team may have to go with QB Max Brosmer

It’s a short week, and the Vikings could be shorthanded at quarterback.

Both J.J. McCarthy (ankle) and Carson Wentz (left shoulder) were listed as limited participants in a Monday practice that didn’t actually happen. That keeps the door open for the possibility that undrafted rookie Max Brosmer will get the start.

Brosmer has served as the backup to Wentz during McCarthy’s absence. And Brosmer has impressed the Vikings in his limited time in the NFL.

Fantasy Impact:

The story said the Vikings may have no other choice. It mentioned that McCarthy, even if healthy, hasn't practiced enough to play. Wentz's play, in addition to his injury, could be a factor in the team going with Brosmer, especially after some questionable decisions against the Eagles in Week 7. Brosmer is a name to at least keep an eye on. He's been in our news in the past because the Vikings seem to be high on him, so it may not be that much of a stretch to see him get the call.

Houston Texans wideout Nico Collins suffered a concussion during a 27-19 loss Monday to the Seattle Seahawks, according to coach DeMeco Ryans.

"We'll evaluate him as the week goes on," Ryans said.

Fantasy Impact:

The trend has been for players to miss at least a week after a concussion, so Collins owners will want to be sure to follow his progress. The Texans host the 49ers in an earlier Sunday game and considering there are also six teams on byes this week, now is the time for a plan just in case Collins is out for Week 8.

Buccaneers WR Mike Evans has broken collarbone

Bucs WR Mike Evans suffered a broken collarbone and is out for most of the year, coach Todd Bowles announced. Absolutely brutal.

Fantasy Impact:

There is no official timeline yet for Evans, but by "most of the year" we have to assume if Evans can come back it would be for a Bucs deep playoff run. As far as the rest of the season goes, Egbuka should take over as the team's WR1 but is dealing with a hamstring issue. Godwin has been out as well, leaving Shepard and the Johnsons as next up. If Godwin remains out, Shepard and Tez should fall in line behind Egbuka. However, Otton could be a sneaky play going forward as well. He was targeted nine times and finished with a 7-65-0 line on Monday night.

Titans will release WR Tyler Lockett

Veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett’s tenure in Tennessee did not last long.

Lockett asked for and will receive his release, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Fantasy Impact:

Lockett hasn’t done much for the Titans, with just 10 catches for 70 yards this season. The story said the news of his impending release has been leaked, but the release is not yet official and it means it’s still possible for a team to trade for Lockett.
