Free-agent RB Todd Gurley is in Detroit today to visit with the Lions, per source. If he were to sign with Detroit, Gurley would be reunited with Jared Goff and be in the backfield with another former Georgia standout, D'Andre Swift.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) is expected to miss a few weeks according to Joe Person of The Athletic and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
This is as good of news as expected considering how quick CMC was ruled out of Carolina's Week 3 win at Houston. Carolina is 3-0 with a tougher schedule ahead, but rushing CMC back after a lengthy injury-plagued 2020 would not be ideal. Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman will carry the workload until McCaffrey is back.
The Giants at full strength on offense would be an excellent development for QB Daniel Jones after a strong Week 2 performance in a loss. That said, neither is a beacon of health so monitor the inactive list Sunday.
Even a reduced workload for Cook makes Alexander Mattison a FLEX play in what should be a competitive, higher-scoring contest. Cook did not practice all week but the dynamic running back is a player that can get away with that. The issue is whether a Week 3 contest is worth risking his long-term health.
