Experts blast Crabtree for holding out

Good news for Michael Crabtree and agent Eugene Parker. I was able to find an NFL draft authority who thought there was a chance Crabtree could improve his status by re-entering the draft in 2010.

"He's the best player of all the wide receivers that would be available, even after sitting out a year," said the dean of draftniks, Mel Kiper Jr. "There are two reasons why he fell to No. 10 – the injury and the Raiders."

The bad news for camp Crabtree: Kiper was alone in this assessment. Of the six other draft gurus I spoke with this week, none saw Crabtree sniffing the top 10 in April. And they weren't gentle with their opinions. The notion that Crabtree would sit out a season drew reactions such as "a foolish stance," "a huge mistake," "I think he's crazy" and "It's insanity."
