Squirrel’s Nuts & Bolts: Bills - Rams MNF Showdown Strategy (Week 5 NFL DFS)
Week 5 of the NFL season wraps up with an interconference Showdown between the Bills and the Rams at SoFi Stadium. Kickoff is 8:15 PM ET, and the Rams are favored by 3.5 points at home, with the total set at 54.5 points.
The Bills are 3-1 and rank second in the league at 31.8 points per game, trailing only the Lions. Josh Allen has accounted for 13 of their 16 offensive touchdowns. His seven rushing scores are tied with Derrick Henry and Jahmyr Gibbs for the league lead, and he led all quarterbacks with 14 last season. Allen has also thrown for 1,039 yards and six touchdowns, and his 8.7 yards per attempt rank third among qualified passers. James Cook won the rushing title with 1,621 yards last season and ranks third in the league at 105.3 rushing yards per game. Buffalo will be short-handed at wide receiver, with Joshua Palmer (shoulder) out and DJ Moore questionable after aggravating an AC joint sprain in the second quarter against the Patriots. Keon Coleman finished that game with 116 yards, the second-highest total of his career, and Khalil Shakir added a season-high 82. Dalton Kincaid leads the team with 270 receiving yards, which ranks fifth among tight ends, and 225 of those yards came in the first two games. The Bills’ defense has allowed 10 touchdown passes in four games, which ranks 29th in the league at 2.5 per game. Only the Commanders, Cardinals, and Lions have allowed more per game, at 2.8 each (14 in five games).
The Rams are 2-2 and lead the league with 41.3 pass attempts per game. Matthew Stafford won the MVP last season after leading the league with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdown passes, and his 297.3 passing yards per game rank second this year behind Bryce Young. Puka Nacua led the league with 129 receptions last season and finished second with 1,715 receiving yards. He missed Weeks 2 and 3 and returned with nine catches for 125 yards and a rushing touchdown against the Eagles. Davante Adams leads the team with 38 targets and ranks ninth in the league with 390 receiving yards, and 332 of those yards came in the two games Nacua missed. Kyren Williams finished sixth in the league with 1,252 rushing yards last season, and he caught a career-high 10 passes in Philadelphia to go with 80 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
This Showdown gives us a 54.5-point total and a Bills offense that could be down two wide receivers. Let’s break down this Monday night interconference Showdown, highlight the key plays, and uncover the strategies that could help you climb the leaderboards.
