Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Week 3: Michael Penix Jr. Facing Ideal Matchup

We saw some gaudy stats from quarterbacks during Week 2. There were six quarterbacks who threw for at least 300 yards, with three of those having thrown for a least 330 yards. There were also eight quarterbacks who registered at least three touchdown passes. They were led by Jared Goff, who threw for five scores.
On the negative side of things, injuries are piling up at quarterback. Brock Purdy (toe) did not play against the Saints and is unlikely to play in Week 3. Justin Fields suffered a concussion versus the Bills that could keep him sidelined for at least one game. The biggest injury came to Joe Burrow (toe), who is expected to be out for at least three months. For those who rostered any of these three quarterbacks, it’s time to hit the waiver wire for streaming replacements.
For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data.

Week 2 Recap
Russell Wilson came through in a big way for our streamer picks last week. In a wild overtime loss to the Cowboys, he threw for 450 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also added 23 rushing yards on three carries. He averaged 11.0 yards per pass attempt, providing the Giants with a deep passing element that they sorely missed last season. His performance likely put to rest any talk of Jaxson Dart taking over as the Giants' starting quarterback early in the season.
On the negative side of things in Week 2, Joe Flacco laid an egg against the Ravens. He threw for 199 yards and one touchdown, while also being picked off once and losing a fumble. With the Browns getting blown out, he was pulled late in the game for Dillon Gabriel. Flacco still attempted 45 passes, giving him 90 pass attempts already this season.

Michael Penix Jr. (Falcons) at Panthers
Talk about two contrasting performances from Michael Penix Jr. He attempted 42 passes against the Buccaneers in Week 1, throwing for 298 yards and one touchdown. He also added six carries for 21 yards and a touchdown. With the Falcons dominating the Vikings on Sunday Night Football in Week 2, Penix only attempted 21 passes. That left him with 135 passing yards and no touchdowns.
Last season, the Panthers ranked 30th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Part of the problem is their inability to get to the quarterback. They had only 32 sacks last season, and they have just one sack through their first two games this year. There is some blowout potential here, but given how bad the Panthers’ defense has been, Penix is still one of the more appealing streaming options for the week.
