Week 10 Revenge Games: 2 Players Out to Torch Their Ex-Teams
This week, I want revenge on these leaves that are blowing all over my lawn and driveway. I love fall, it's my favorite season for a multitude of reasons, but the whole leaf situation is less than desirable. The wind is currently howling, and I can hear those pesky leaves getting into every nook and cranny of the property. Oh well, it's a small price to pay for the cooler weather, football, and Thanksgiving food.
Revenge is always on the minds of those done dirty, and not all NFL players who changed teams were necessarily wronged, but we have to assume some sort of vengeance lies within.
I outlined what I found from 10 years of data in the article Revenge Games: 10 Years of Data on Fantasy Breakouts vs. Former Teams, and this weekly article dives into who’s seeking retribution each week.
Before I get into this week's revengers, let’s look at how Week 9 shook out:
- T.J. Hockenson - TE18 (8.1)
It's crazy that Week 10 is another light one, as only two players are going against their former teams.
Christian Kirk, WR - Texans
He spent 2022 through last season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, where Christian Kirk amassed 2,274 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in 37 games. This year has been injury-filled, as Kirk has only been on the field for four contests, and the Texans' offensive struggles haven't helped when he is active. Last week was his first contest back since Week 5, and he was second in targets, which is encouraging.
C.J. Stroud is officially ruled out due to being in the concussion protocol, so maybe Davis Mills will provide a spark along with this revenge narrative for Kirk. With four teams on a bye and so many injuries around the league, Kirk could have some flex appeal against his former employer.
Dare Ogunbowale, RB - Texans
In this same contest, Dare Ogunbowale will also face a Jaguars team he was a part of from 2020-2021. He's the special teams captain and heavily involved in Houston's kick-coverage units, but sometimes he comes in as a passing-down back. Since both Nick Chubb and Woody Marks are healthy, it's doubtful there is much fantasy relevance here, but I figured I'd include him since this week is so light.
