It’s the best time of the year…Scott Fish Bowl season! Let’s dig into this year’s scoring system before showing our rankings powered by 4for4’s season-long projections.

SFB Scoring

Starting with the basics, you get six points for all TDs and two points per 2-point conversion. You get 0.04 points per passing yard and 0.10 points per rushing or receiving yard. You get 1 point per rushing or receiving first down. In addition, you get 0.5 points per carry.

Now, things get slightly more complicated. The scoring is different depending on your platform. If you’re on Sleeper, you get 2.5 points per reception for RBs and WRs and 3.5 points per reception for TEs. If you’re on MFL, you get 1 point per target for all positions. And you also get 1 point per reception for RBs and WRs, which increases to 2 points per reception for TEs.

Below, you’ll see the target/reception point differences for some WRs and TEs last season. In general, I’d argue you’re slightly better off on Sleeper than MFL, but it’s close. Some high catch-rate players like Amon-Ra St. Brown benefit more from Sleeper’s scoring, while deeper target players like Courtland Sutton benefit more from MFL’s scoring.

The bigger twist this year is the addition of IDP scoring. But since we cannot draft defensive players, this rule exclusively applies to Travis Hunter. And his projection really depends on how many defensive snaps he plays. In our rankings below, we assumed about a third of the defensive snaps, which makes Hunter a fourth-round pick. But if you think he plays every snap on defense, he’d be a reasonable first-round pick.

SFB Rankings

Speaking of the rankings, they are not adjusted for positional scarcity because you don’t have to play any specific position. Your only limitation is a maximum of two QBs. With all of that in mind, the table below shows our projected first round sorted by Sleeper’s scoring. And the top 300 projections are included in a Google Sheet here. Please download the table, rather than share it.

SFB ADP and Strategy

Without any real positional restrictions, our main goal is to simply take the players who will score the most points. But rather than draft strictly off of projections, we should incorporate what the market is doing. The table below uses ADP from live drafts already under way. And it shows the best values relative to our projections through the first 12 rounds of the draft. So, the main strategy is take the players who will score the most, while trying to push players we see as massive values like Justin Fields to Round 4, rather than at Round 2 where we see his value.

I’ll be updating this file periodically with changes in our projections and changes in ADP. Reach out to me on BlueSky if you have any questions! And as always, please donate to Fantasy Cares if you're able.
