2024 NFL Mock Draft: Connor Allen's 4.0

Another NFL Draft is almost in the books. I feel better than ever about some spots and significantly worse than I did a week ago about others. Rumors are swirling about different picks, team's boards, preferences, and so much more. Deciphering what’s true and not is one of the toughest tasks of draft season.

In addition to mocks, we have been betting all throughout draft season. With Vegas Refund on board, we have eclipsed 25 total NFL Draft Bets. Plenty of these are still playable at the current price. 2024 NFL Mock Draft

1. Chicago Bears - Caleb Williams (QB, USC)

This has been locked in for a while as the Bears land arguably the best quarterback prospect they have had in franchise history.

2. Washington Commanders - Jayden Daniels (QB, LSU)

I was firmly in the non-Jayden camp for most of this process. I still don’t think anyone 100% knows as Adam Peters plays things close to the vest. hat being said, the rumblings are that it will be Jayden Daniels.

3. New England Patriots - J.J. McCarthy (QB, Michigan)

If we had to submit a mock 24 hours ago I would have had the Pats picking Drake Maye. Apparently, ownership is much, much more involved than most anticipated, and with no true GM (Eliot Wolf is “Acting GM”), Jonathan Kraft seemingly has free reign to do what he wants. JJ is reportedly his top choice. There are rumblings of them trading back but it puts a lot of pressure on them coming back up again to grab a QB as Robert Kraft has been quite clear they need to leave the first round with a new quarterback.

4. Minnesota Vikings (Trade) - Drake Maye (QB, UNC)

With Maye falling in this scenario I expect Monti Ossenfort’s phone to be ringing off the hook. I think the Vikings and Giants would be the primary suitors. With seemingly both quarterbacks’ top option still on the board, I would expect the Cardinals to receive an enticing enough offer that includes the Vikings' two first-round picks this year (11, 23) and their first next year.

By most accounts, the Vikings are interested in Daniels, Maye, and J.J. McCarthy.

5. LA Chargers - Marvin Harrison Jr.(WR, Ohio State)

I think the Chargers will be in on Marvin Harrison Jr. MHJ and Jim Harbaugh have numerous connections dating back to Harrison’s father. Harbaugh played with Marvin Harrison senior on the Colts for two years.

Harbaugh and the Chargers DC Jesse Minter coached against Marvin Harrison Jr. at Michigan. They got a front-row seat to watch his dominance as MHJ’s two games against Michigan resulted in games of 7-120-1 and 5-118-1. After the game, Harbaugh mentioned that Michigan doubled him as much as possible but knew they “weren’t going to be able to stop him.”

Michigan’s DC at the time and now current DC of the Chargers Jesse Minter expanded and said that a big part of their game plan was to slow him down because he’s “probably one of the best college receivers in the last 15-20 years, one of the best NFL draft prospects at that position in a long time.”

Minter and Harbaugh aren’t calling all the shots in terms of decision-making but I imagine they are voicing their opinions pretty strongly. In their latest press conference, Chargers GM Joe Horitz was asked if Jim Harbaugh would have any issues drafting rival players. He chuckled and said “No” while smiling.

6. NY Giants - Rome Odunze (WR, Washington)

I have been on Nabers to the Giants throughout this whole process but there has been a sneaky late buzz about them drafting Odunze. Albert Breer recently mentioned that the Giants may have Odunze over Nabers due to character concerns. Joe Schoen has not leaked much of anything in previous years throughout the process until the last 24 hours or so. I think the Giants go with a wideout so I’ll take the late riser here.

7. Arizona Cardinals (Trade) - Malik Nabers (WR, LSU)

The Titans are live to stay and pick Joe Alt or Malik Nabers here but with extra ammunition from their trade with the Vikings and Texans last year, the Cardinals move up the board a few picks. By most accounts, the Cardinals have Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr. close on their boards. If he falls past six, I think the Cardinals get aggressive in acquiring Nabers.

8. Atlanta Falcons - Laiatu Latu (EDGE, UCLA)

By most accounts, the Falcons are completely fine with Latu’s medicals. If that’s the case, it’s easy to prefer the athletic, productive edge rusher who played with the current DC in college.

9. Chicago Bears - Byron Murphy (DL, Texas)

If Odunze is here, he will be their pick. If not, I think it’s between Byron Murphy and EDGE Jared Verse. I think Verse makes more sense given their current roster construction, and recent draft history (two DTs in 2nd and early 3rd round last year) but the drumbeat for Murphy from people I respect has been deafening.

10. NY Jets - Joe Alt (OT, Notre Dame)

I’m not buying the Bowers smoke at 10 and think they will go with Joe Alt or potentially a player like Troy Fautanu who can start inside and develop into a long-term option at tackle.

11. Tennessee Titans (Trade) - J.C. Latham (OT, Alabama)

The J.C. Latham buzz is so strong I nearly had him going at five ahead of Marvin Harrison Jr. I think that is very much in play still but couldn’t get there in this mock. The Titans have holes all over the line and Latham is reportedly able to play both left and right tackle despite mostly playing right tackle at Alabama.

12. Denver Broncos - Dallas Turner (EDGE, Alabama)

Brock Bowers is in play with this pick but they like Turner a lot. They reportedly feel good about corner so I would look for them to add an edge (Latu, Turner) or Bowers here. I’m also not buying that they will pick Bo Nix here at all and am not going to try and game the mock-drafting system by putting him here if they trade back or trade into the first round.

14. Las Vegas Raiders - Terrion Arnold (CB, Alabama)

Arnold fits a need and their profile of drafting.

GM Tom Telesco was with the Raiders previously and the last six years has been focusing on drafting athletic players. Six-of-7 draft picks have an RAS (relative athletic score) of 9.3 or higher with Quentin Johnston being the only non-qualifier at 8.69. After more testing, Arnold’s official RAS is 9.3.

14. New Orleans Saints - Olu Fashanu (OT Penn State)

The Saints need help badly on the offensive line, especially with the latest reports that LT Ryan Ramczyk has a degenerative knee and may not be healthy again. They continue to bulk up their offensive line here with Fashanu. Loomis also only drafts athletes early. He hasn’t drafted a single player below an RAS of 8.6 and only one player below a nine. Fashanu is another great athlete with a 9.49 RAS.

15. Indianapolis Colts - Brock Bowers (TE, Georgia)

Chris Ballard wants to surround Anthony Richardson with more weapons and Bowers would be a massive help. The one caveat is that he didn’t officially test athletically but by most accounts from practice he would have timed in the high 4.4’s or low 4.5’s and posted a great overall athletic profile. This is his floor, apparently.

16. Seattle Seahawks - Jared Verse (EDGE, Florida State)

The Seahawks are live to trade down here but wind up adding to their defensive line where they desperately need difference-makers.

17. Philadelphia Eagles (Trade) - Taliese Fuaga (OT, Oregon State)

Daniel Jeremiah, Todd McShay, and Dianna Russini have all reported that the Eagles desperately want to trade up for a corner or offensive tackle. Fuaga is an elite athlete with tons of upside as a lineman.

18. Cincinnati Bengals - Quinyon Mitchell (CB, Toledo)

The Bengals are in the market for an offensive lineman, stud defensive lineman, or cornerback. With Mitchell falling here, it makes a ton of sense for them to snag the uber-athlete.

19. Los Angeles Rams - Xavier Worthy (WR, Texas)

The Rams are admittedly a massive wild card here. They haven’t made a pick since 2016. Peter Schrager (who is friends with McVay) suggested they would go offense and Worthy just broke the NFL Combine record. Adding another weapon like Worthy to McVay’s offense would be scary.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers - Graham Barton (IOL, Duke)

The Steelers have been heavily linked to Barton throughout the draft process. They will continue to bolster their offensive line for their upcoming neolithic 2024 approach to the game of football after hiring Arthur Smith as OC.

21. Miami Dolphins - Troy Fautanu (OT, Washington)

The Dolphins need OL help and Fautanu can play both interior and on the outside.

22. Jacksonville Jaguars - Kool Aid Mckinstry (CB, Alabama)

There are rumors that Kool Aid is incredibly high on the Jags board so this would be a slam-dunk to trade back and still land him.

23. Arizona Cardinals - Cooper DeJean (CB, Iowa)

The Cardinals' three biggest needs are wideout, OL, and cornerback. DeJean is expected to go in this range and fits a need.

24. Dallas Cowboys - Tyler Guyton (OT, Oklahoma)

The Cowboys are apparently high on Guyton’s tools and are looking to target an offensive lineman here.

25. Green Bay Packers - Amarius Mims (OT, Georgia)

The Packers could go in a variety of directions but pick a toolsy offensive lineman in Amarius Mims here. He will likely go higher than this.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Chop Robinson (EDGE, Penn State)

This is a pretty chalky pick and nothing has happened throughout the process for me to change it. The Bucs had the eighth-worst pressure rate last season and desperately need to add EDGE help.

27. Arizona Cardinals - Jackson Powers-Johnson (IOL, Oregon)

With corner and wideout checked off the list, adding more help up front would continue to improve the team’s trajectory. JPJ is a controversial prospect because he is a center and can play on the interior.

28. Buffalo Bills - Brian Thomas Jr. (WR, LSU)

Injury concerns are real for Brian Thomas Jr. and I would expect him to go in the early 20’s.

29. Detroit Lions - Darius Robinson (DL, Missouri)

The Detroit Lions' run defense played well but still lacked a pass rush and their secondary struggled. They could opt for a corner but Robinson has gotten a ton of buzz lately.

30. Baltimore Ravens - Jordan Morgan (OT, Arizona)

The Ravens could also go cornerback here but Morgan has been linked to them behind the scenes.

31. San Francisco 49ers - Adonai Mitchell (WR, Texas)

The 49ers are very far apart in contract talks with Brandon Aiyuk and he could be dealt this weekend or shortly after. Mitchell tested well and is an alpha.

32. Kansas City Chiefs - Kingsley Suamataia (OT, BYU)

The Chiefs are reportedly very likely to lock in an offensive tackle here with the 32nd pick.
