Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Week 8: Daniel Jones a Giant Above Other Options

Quarterback Streaming Week 8

I needed a cart after all of the injuries on Sunday, and I’m questionable for Week 8. The slew of players headed to the locker room made a tough bye week all the more difficult to navigate. Luckily, we’ve only got two teams resting, but at least one poor performance has us second-guessing who to start at quarterback for our fantasy squads. To help, I’ve got a few streaming options to consider. But first, let’s take a look at last week’s results.

Week 7 Results

Raw points are an obvious help, but I try to look at streaming results relative to the every-week starters. If a waiver option outscored the Tom Bradys and Lamar Jacksons of the world, I’d consider it a win. You were able to match someone else’s draft pick with a guy you acquired for free. It helps set expectations, but like a couple of last week’s picks, you’d always want a bit more from your quarterback.

Week 7 Results
Type Player FPTS Rank
Top Play Marcus Mariota 12.1 18
Top Play Jimmy Garoppolo 16.3 10
Deep Matt Ryan 9.9 23
Deep Davis Mills 18.1 8

Run the tape back. I gave my case for starting Davis Mills at the end of last week’s TMAP. The Raiders were 25th in dropback success rate but first in rushing EPA allowed. Houston averaged 6.4 yards per play and had one three-and-out series on Sunday. I’m highlighting the recommendation, not as a victory lap. But look at how bleak the landscape is this season.

We don’t have the same “Kirk Cousins” type players on the wire. In other words, quarterbacks attached to high-end passing options. This year, we’ve seen more productive outings from guys we’d instantly scroll past or laugh at other analysts for recommending.

Mills in a good matchup is the perfect example. Or, Andy Dalton, despite throwing memorable interceptions on Thursday night. Both faced defenses in the league's bottom half in aFPA for quarterbacks. Both came out with viable results. The opposing secondaries are why we’re considering these quarterbacks. I’ll always qualify a play with “deep” or desperate. However, if the peripherals are positive, then we should (try to) trust the process.

Top Streaming Pick

Daniel Jones (Giants) @ Seahawks

The Giants lost their left guard, right tackle, and starting tight end in Week 7 and still nearly matched the Jaguars in offensive output. Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka have done the impossible by creating an efficient offense with subpar talent. New York is eighth in EPA per play.
