2021 AFC East Betting Preview
My divisional preview series is designed to be a long-form extension of our Move The Line division betting breakdowns. I'll be previewing each division while providing you with insight on the best ways to bet on each team. This time, we're looking at the AFC East.
The Bills, fresh off of their first deep playoff run in 27 years, return as the AFC East favorites. Josh Allen made 'the leap' last season and will look to build off last year's success with almost the entirety of his 2020 offense intact. If the young additions on defense come together, Buffalo will again contend for a trip to the Super Bowl.
Despite trade rumors or even rumors of trade rumors, Tua Tagovailoa will be the straw that stirs the drink for Miami this season. The offseason focus was clearly about setting the second-year signal-caller up for success while banking on another outstanding performance from Brian Flores's defense to propel the Dolphins to the playoffs.
Very little went right with New England in 2020, yet they still managed to go 7-9 despite ignoring the forward pass from time to time. First-round pick Mac Jones won't have to be a world-beater in year one. New England is terrific in the trenches on both sides of the ball, and their offseason spending spree should pay immediate dividends.
Optimism abounds in New York as Sam Darnold and Adam Gase are out, while second-overall pick Zach Wilson and former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Salah are in. The overall talent on the roster is still below-average, but general manager Joe Douglas has already given Wilson more weapons than Darnold ever had.
