IDP Waiver Wire Pickups For Week 8

Outside of the Raiders, we didn't have too much to worry about from a COVID standpoint. Jonathan Abram missed this past week, but he's been removed from the COVID list. Although, I did miss having a Monday night doubleheader. We're hitting the point of the season where we just can't avoid the injuries. This week, it appears we've lost Landon Collins for the year. Dakota Allen, who started for Myles Jack, also left early in the game. I've got some names to look for your on your wire, and as always, be prepared to hit your wire when any news breaks regarding positive COVID tests. Reference my past IDP waiver wire articles here, as those names will still apply if they're available.

As we look ahead to Week 8, here are the IDPs I'm suggesting to target on your waiver wire this week.

Linebacker

Vince Williams, LB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Williams turned in a solid game against the Titans and King Henry. Wiliams finished with 10 tackles - nine solos - resulting in a 21.7% tackle rate. He made some solid tackles on Henry - including one for a loss. He also chased him down on a few tackles. He had a nice sack on Ryan Tannehill, where he shot the gap, however, it appeared Henry missed on the block. Williams should be in line for about 80% of the snaps per game, so he'll have LB3 value for the remainder of the season.

Kamal Martin, LB, Green Bay Packers

It appears Christian Kirksey could miss a few more weeks and Kamal Martin appears to be at full health. Krys Barnes started with the dot, but an injury knocked him out and Martin had that responsibility. Martin ended up appearing in 29 snaps. He did a good job maintaining his assignments and had some solid stops on David Johnson. Martin also cleaned up some missed tackles left upfront. If I'm targeting a Green Bay linebacker if Barnes misses some time, it's Martin. Green Bay liked this kid during the preseason and was set to see snaps alongside Kirksey before his injury.

BJ Goodson, LB, Cleveland Browns

Goodson is the LB to own from the Browns. He doesn't do much to impact a game, but he's around the ball and doesn't give up on plays. For the INT on Burrow, he was in the right place after Denzel Ward tipped the pass. Goodson finished with seven tackles and is on pace to finish with 120 tackles and is producing an 11.7% tackle rate. With his snap volume and efficiency, he's, dare I say it? A borderline LB1 for the remainder of the year.

Malik Reed, LB/EDGE, Denver Broncos

Reed will be a target in big-play scoring formats, as he's starting to get his footing underneath him. He has consecutive weeks of recording multiple sacks - just don't expect that every week. On Reed's first sack he got up under Nick Keizer and just finished off Patrick Mahomes. He wrapped him up and gave him no chance to scramble. The second sack was on Chad Henne, and well, any of us could sack him. Reed was solid in run stopping, as he limited Le'Veon Bell and Clyde Edwards-Helaire to just four yards when they ran his way. After appearing in 93 snaps over the first three games, Reed has logged 149 snaps over the last three - generating a 12% pressure rate over that span.

Quincy Williams, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars

This one depends on the health of Myles Jack and Dakota Allen. Jack was inactive and his replacement, Dakota Allen, left with an ankle injury after just six snaps. Williams appeared in 94% of the snaps, which was essentially the remainder of the game. Williams finished with seven tackles - including one for loss - and a defended pass. Keep an eye on the injury reports and Allen and Jack's status before setting your waiver queue.
