It's not as if the team has many other options, but regardless, finding a tight end with a legitimate target floor is difficult to find in fantasy. Cole Kmet was involved in the screen game during the Bears' second preseason game, an area of the field that he was not utilized in during the last coaching regime; his four targets on screens in 2021 ranked 25th amongst NFL tight ends.

The 24-year-old sustained the high-ankle sprain during Saturday's practice and now will miss all of the preseason and around a month of regular season action. This leaves the already barren Bears WR depth chart even thinner, offering QB Justin Fields a steep hill to climb during his sophomore year.

Mooney: Velus Jones Jr. "going to be a playmaker"

Speaking to the media Tuesday, WR Darnell Mooney said that rookie wideout Velus Jones Jr. is standing out. "When he gets the ball, you're going to see, he can fly," said Mooney. "He's going to be a playmaker, for sure."

Fantasy Impact:

Jones is a 25-year old rookie and could already be showing his ceiling as a rookie. The good thing is he is being embraced on offense and is being praised for his speed by another fast receiver. Jones's fantasy floor is bottomless, but if he can grasp the offense immediately, there is plenty of space for upside in his game.
