It looks like Allen was kept out of the rest of the game due to an "abundance of caution" Keim went on to say in his tweet. Smith came on in relief but the team looks like it will be going back to Allen in Week 6.
Washington QB Kyle Allen has been cleared to return after a head to head collision during the first half against the Rams.
At least Alex Smith got to throw six passes and complete five of them for 35 yards. But it looks like Washington will revert back to the former Panther as they come out for the second half. Allen was 9/13 for 74 yards in the first half.
This is a truly remarkable story. Smith, as we know, suffered a horrific injury in 2018 but fought his way back into football mode, eventually being cleared for football activities and is now back playing as an NFL QB in the regular season. Many congratulations to Smith on completing his incredible journey. You might as well give him the Comeback Player of the Year award now.
