Report: Ravens QB Joe Flacco to be available Week 7

Joe Flacco will be available to play for the Ravens this Sunday against the Jets.

According to a report from ESPN, Baltimore did not promote practice squad quarterback David Fales to the 53-man roster.

Fantasy Impact: 

The story went on to say the report doesn't indicate whether or not Flacco would start. Ryan Mallett would start for the Ravens if Flacco does not. It's a potential nice matchup against the Jets.

The Ravens have claimed quarterback Jimmy Clausen off waivers to be their backup to new starter Matt Schaub.

Baltimore officially placed Joe Flacco (ACL/MCL) on season-ending injured reserve.

Clausen became available after the Bears waived him Monday to promote David Fales from the practice squad. It came at a good time for the Ravens.

Clausen worked with Ravens Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman for the past two seasons in Chicago, which gives him a mental leg up in joining Baltimore midway through the season. He already knows the framework of the system.

If Brian Hoyer had played better this season preseason, he might have gotten a bye in the preseason finale Thursday night against the Bears.

As it is, he'll play up to a quarter and then give way to Johnny Manziel, who will finish out the half and possibly play into the third quarter. Rex Grossman and Connor Shaw will likely split the second half, coach Mike Pettine said.

Contrast that with what the Bears are doing: starting sixth-round rookie David Fales -- their third-string quarterback -- and likely letting him play the whole game.

But Hoyer said after the 33-14 loss to the Rams Saturday that he welcomes a chance to play. Hoyer and the first-team offense have produced only one touchdown in 14 possessions and Hoyer has earned a 63.7 rating.
