Washington Redskins defensive end Kedric Golston on Friday confirmed he is done for the season because of elbow and groin injuries.

Golston will become the third defensive lineman this week the Redskins have had to put on season-ending injured reserves, joining Phillip Daniels and Maake Kemoateu.

A five-year veteran, Golston started all 13 games in which he played at right end this season, Washington's first in a base 3-4 defense after many years in a 4-3 scheme. The hard-working Golston, a solid defensive tackle in the Redskins' previous defense, was expected to back up two-time all-pro Albert Haynesworth on the right side.

Haynesworth, however, never fully adapted to the 3-4. Citing conduct detrimental to the club, the Redskins suspended Haynesworth without pay for the final four games of the season.

The Redskins are expected to promote someone from the practice squad to replace Golston.
