Payton: Saints will rely on WR Willie Snead down the stretch

Sean Payton said Willie Snead is someone the Saints will rely on down the stretch. He also mentioned they had hoped to get him more snaps yesterday.

Fantasy Impact:

Snead didn't play in Week 7 and had just four snaps this past Sunday. He certainly isn't a safe play until we see signs of more consistent playing time. Owners may want to think about going another direction at this point as the Saints don't have much of a reason to change their depth chart at WR.

Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) took full practice reps all week. Snead was removed from the injury report so he looks like a full go for Week 8. He’s still not a trustworthy start at this point because he has been splitting snaps with Brandon Coleman.

Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) took full practice reps again Thursday. It looks like Snead will make his return this week. He was limited all of last week before ultimately sitting out on Sunday. We need to see a significant snap share before we can comfortably recommend Snead as a start.

Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring, questionable) took limited practice reps all week and is questionable for Week 7. It seems likely that Snead’s playing time will remain limited in Week 7.

Saints WR Willie Snead plays minimal role in first week back

Willie Snead played just 21 of 71 offensive snaps (30 percent) and finished the game with one catch for 11 yards on three targets.

Now, there's no reason to think this will be the norm for Snead. Coaches wanted to see Sunday how he handled his workload after missing three games due to suspension and then a fourth with a lingering hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact:

The Saints didn't commit to Snead immediately returning to his feature role the story said. We felt it was best to take a wait and see approach with Snead before putting him in lineups. At this point, owners may want to continue to wait until the snaps number increase. The Saints were also focused on running the ball.
