The NFL is planning to begin using the 17-game schedule in 2021.

We knew the 17-game season was coming thanks to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, we just didn’t know how soon. Sunday, we got that answer. Nothing will be official for a while until the league agrees to a new media deal, but this is now the likely destination for the league. An extra week of fantasy football is never a bad thing. The league had already agreed on what the extra game is going to be, which will be a fifth inter-conference game against one of the same-place finishers on a rotating basis. The conferences will also rotate each year between having nine home games one year and eight the next.
