Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) practiced in full Wednesday.

This is a great sign as Mahomes was already close to returning last week. As long as his knee holds up, look for Mahomes to move back into the starting lineup against the Titans. The Chiefs offense didn’t skip a beat in the two games Matt Moore started but Mahomes just increases the offensive potential that much. Everyone wins when Mahomes is on the field.

Ed Werder is reporting from his sources that there is a chance Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will play Sunday against the Vikings.

This is certainly a positive development but it’s a true 50/50 shot. Mahomes was limited in practice all week. The Chiefs also brought Chad Henne back from injured reserve Saturday so its very tough to say whether or not Mahomes will actually start. It’s a true game-time decision. We’ll know for sure by about 11:30 eastern tomorrow morning.

There's at least a chance Mahomes is back Sunday but we're not holding our breath just yet. He seems to be inching closer but perhaps the Chiefs will stick to the original timeframe of three weeks, which would bring him back in Week 11. The Chiefs offense didn't miss a beat with Matt Moore starting against the Packers, which should alleviate some concern, despite the Chiefs losing the game. Keep an eye out for the official injury report.

Patrick Mahomes said he could have suited up for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Green Bay Packers on "Sunday Night Football" if it was a playoff game, just 10 days after the Chiefs quarterback suffered a dislocated kneecap that was expected to sideline him several weeks. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid won't rush Mahomes back to the field, even if he's ready to return.

Mahomes is expected to practice this week after being limited last week. He's apparently expected to return Week 10 against the Titans. The initial plan was to return Week 11, but the Chiefs also have a bye Week 12. Mahomes wants to play this week against the Vikings but the team will have the final say.

Just the fact we're even reporting this is amazing, as Mahomes' original timeframe was three weeks, but he is already back practicing. It would not come as a shock at all at this point if he suits up in Week 9 against the Vikings. But for Week 8, it'll be Matt Moore under center, which knocks the rest of the offense down slightly, especially against a strong Packers defense. But the good news is that we are closer than originally thought to seeing Mahomes back on the field, which is a win for everyone.
