Chargers sign TE Lance Kendricks

ESPN

Sep 17, 2019 · 8:24 PM EDT

With tight end Hunter Henry out because of a knee injury, the Los Angeles Chargers have signed veteran TE Lance Kendricks, sources told ESPN's Field Yates.

Related players: Virgil Green

Fantasy Impact:

Green hasn't been much of a factor on the offensive side with the loss of Hunter Henry. There is still no timetable for Henry's return and Green has posted just one catch in both Week 1 and 2. The Patriots signed Kendricks but he was suspended for Week 1 and then released by the Pats.

Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 2. The team is "hopeful" that he'll be able to return after he suffered a tibia plateau fracture in Week 1. Adam Schefter reported a 4-6 week absence and Dr. David Chao said, "His season is definitely not over. There are even some new techniques to inject calcium into the fracture area to enhance healing and allow for earlier return." Virgil Green likely runs more routes at tight end, but he's never done much with the opportunity that he's had, although he did average more yards per target last season than Antonio Gates did. The Charger running backs probably benefit the most, with Travis Benjamin and Dontrelle Inman picking up any extra slack.

Chargers TE Hunter Henry suffers a tibia plateau fracture

The Chargers announced that TE Hunter Henry suffered a tibia plateau fracture to his left knee during last Sunday’s game against the Colts.

Fantasy Impact:

The Chargers are cursed. Hunter Henry will likely miss a large chunk of time but there hasn't been an official time table given by the team, but Adam Schefter reports a 4-6 week recovery. Austin Ekeler should see an uptick in receiving work along with Mike Williams if he is healthy.

Chargers TE Hunter Henry gaining more confidence

USA Today

Jul 30, 2019 · 5:53 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Chargers and tight end Hunter Henry each carried expectations for a breakout campaign going into last season.?

The Chargers delivered by finishing 12-4 and reaching the postseason for the first time since 2013, but Henry had to watch from the sidelines because of a torn ACL.

Recharged physically and mentally, Henry is ready to help deliver on those personal and team goals in his fourth year.

"I'm feeling good, feeling awesome," Henry said. "I think I'm gaining more and more confidence."

Fantasy Impact:

With another seven months to fully heal, Henry finds himself performing at an even higher level in training camp and has made a series of standout catches during the first week, according to our story. Henry is our fourth ranked TE heading into drafts.
