Bears coach Matt Eberflus says "Tyson Bagent will be our starter." Calls Justin Fields doubtful for Sunday night's game at Chargers.

Bagent led the Bears to a win over the Raiders in what was a battle of backup QBs. Bagent was 21-of-29 but for just 162 yards, however he did have a 97.2 QB rating. He added a TD pass and wasn't intercepted, he even ran three times for 24 yards. The Chargers will likely be a harder task in Week 8. For now, Bagent is more of a deeper league, superflex option but it looks like he'll start Week 8 at least as Fields recovers from a thumb injury.

Fields will miss Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. The Bears have not placed him on injured reserve. He is reportedly already regaining grip strength. There is a chance he could play Week 8 against the Chargers. For Week 7 against the Raiders, it will be rookie free agent Tyson Bagent getting the start.

Fields is dealing with a dislocated thumb. The post added there is no overall timetable for Fields to get back to action. Walker signed a two-year contract worth $4.15 million in March with over $2 million in guarantees. The Bears will now hand that role to undrafted rookie Bagent or veteran Peterman. Bagent, who signed with Chicago after playing for offensive coordinator Luke Getsy's squad at the Senior Bowl, has been the team's strongest backup QB throughout training camp, the story went on to say.
