Dead Weight Report: Week 14 Fantasy Football Drop List
It’s eradication time for your fantasy rosters, as we’re one week from all systems go for the postseason. Our squads need to be trimmed of all the fat and what-ifs so they are streamlined for success.
Below is a look at a handful of players who are drop-zone-worthy as we head down the stretch of the NFL and fantasy seasons. Some of these may be too aggressive for larger leagues or teams who have bye week issues, but these are the guys I think are dead weight moving forward.
Ricky Pearsall, WR - 49ers
In three games since returning from a knee injury, Ricky Pearsall has just five receptions for 20 yards, which has translated to a measly 4.7 total half-PPR points. With time not on his side from a fantasy perspective, plus a Week 14 bye, ditching Pearsall may free up some roster space for a possible starter.
Tony Pollard, RB - Titans
It’s been seven games since Tony Pollard has crossed the pylon, and he hasn’t put up double-digit points in half-PPR scoring since Week 5. There's very little upside for the RB heading into this week’s matchup with Cleveland, then he gets the 49ers, followed by the Chiefs. Given the state of the Titans offense and the pending contests, 82% of you Yahoo managers still hanging on can safely let Pollard go.
Tre Tucker, WR - Raiders
After Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty, there just isn’t enough meat on the bone with the Raiders offense. Tre Tucker is the most targeted WR on the team, but he dropped to just three balls last week, which he caught for 20 yards and no touchdowns. There’s also a tough schedule on the horizon as Vegas gets Denver this week, Philly, then Houston in Week 16.
David Njoku, TE - Browns
He’s taken the third row in a minivan to Harold Fanin in recent weeks, as David Njoku has just six targets to Fannin’s 23 in their last four contests. Fannin actually leads the Cleveland offense in balls since Week 11 with 16, and in that time frame, Njoku is the league’s TE67, averaging 0.9 in half-PPR scoring on a per-game basis. Pour one out and finally say goodbye to the talented TE.
Tez Johnson, WR - Buccaneers
Chris Godwin is back and has seen nine targets in the last two games to Tez Johnson’s six. Both Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan could be off the shelf soon, so Johnson will likely totally fall off the fantasy radar. With two tilts against Carolina left on the schedule and a likely reduced role, now is the time to ditch Johnson.
