Perfect Fantasy Draft: 12th in a 12-Team ESPN PPR League

Drafting at the number 12 spot in a 12-team league can be something of a mixed blessing. There is the agony of the long wait before you make that first pick. There is the frustration that the stud you wanted goes long before you even get on the clock. Of course, there is the knowledge that there is no chance that Ja'Marr Chase or Bijan Robinson will slide to you down there. But, with back-to-back picks, you get a chance to move the draft forward by potentially starting a run at a position, creating a market value for yourself further down the line.
In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on ESPN ADP and discuss my overall draft strategy from the No. 12 spot in a 12-team PPR league.

My Plan of Attack When Drafting 12th
Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, 7 bench spots
- Don't reach for players - Picking at 12, the stud running backs will likely have gone. I will not reach for a player just to say that I have taken a running back early if the wide receivers on offer are better options.
- Look for running backs who will catch the ball - the PPR element of this format makes satellite backs valuable commodities, even if they have to share their backfield with other players. Landing players who will be active receivers increases your weekly floor.
- Ignore kickers and DST until the very end of the draft - these are not positions of high priority in fantasy, and a strong case can be made that weekly streaming at these spots is a viable strategy for success. You should ensure that all of your starting spots and at least a few of your backup players are filled before you even contemplate picking a kicker.
