Perfect Draft: 4th in a 12-Team ESPN PPR League
The fourth spot in fantasy football drafts is one of my favorite places to pick from this year. You are guaranteed to get one of the top-tier running backs or wide receivers in the first round and have a lot of different roster-building strategies at your disposal. While you will have some longer turns (17 picks), they aren’t nearly as bad as other draft spots.
In this article, I will walk through my favorite players in each round that should be available to me based on ESPN ADP and discuss my overall draft strategy from the No. 4 spot in a 12-team PPR league.

My Plan of Attack When Drafting Fourth
Roster Settings: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/RB/TE), 1 Kicker, 1 DEF, 7 bench spots
It is obviously important to remain flexible during your fantasy drafts, but here’s a general overview of how I’d like to build my roster from the No. 4 spot:
- Draft two running backs early: I’m not a big fan of a lot of the running backs going in the middle rounds, so I want to make sure I lock in two great starters early on. The fourth pick is a great spot to do this because there will still be some of the tier-2 running backs available in the second round.
- Wait on “onesie” positions: Because we are going to emphasize running backs early, I want to hammer wide receivers in the middle rounds before addressing quarterback and tight end. I will likely pass on the first tier of quarterbacks and tight ends and look to take one only after I fill out my starting running backs and receivers.
- Emphasize high-volume receivers: Given this is a full-PPR draft, I’m going to go after receivers who are their team's No. 1 options and will rack up a lot of catches instead of lower volume, big play threats.
