Fantasy Football Tight End Streaming Week 2: Doubling Down With Gerald Everett

With a week’s worth of information at our disposal, the true crux of the streaming method can begin to mold into shape. Now with a slightly better understanding of how teams will look to employ the tight ends in the receiving game, we can avert our eyes to the waiver wire to find some looked-over players who could benefit our fantasy teams in the short term and, possibly, the long term.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

To provide the advice you can implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Week 1 Review

The tight end position kicked the season off by being the chronic disappointment we’ve grown to know and love. Managers willing to roll out Gerald Everett were rewarded with one of the few tight ends who found the end zone in the first week of the season and was one of eight players at the position to hit double-digit half-PPR points on the week.

Evan Engram (Jaguars) vs. Colts

As the fantasy community as a whole doesn’t tend to make overly-rash decisions after only one week of action, our player pool this week is not terribly different than our options last week. That said, I’m not going back to Evan Engram purely out of necessity. The truth is, he was utilized much more than his 4.8 half-PPR points would hint, as his 35 routes were tied (Darren Waller) for the sixth-most on the week, and his string of upcoming matchups should provide us for a fantasy floor that is difficult to find in the dredges of the tight end waiver wire.

According to Jennifer Eakins’ Stash Candidates from Week 2-6, the Jaguars will face five straight opponents ranked 27th or lower in aFPA to the tight end position, including two games against the Colts, who were just roasted by O.J. Howard, of all people.

Evan Engram is rostered in 25% of Yahoo leagues.
