Streaming Tight Ends: Week 9 Targets

As one would predict, the tight end position is quickly collapsing into catastrophe, as it tends to do at points throughout the NFL season. With two of the preseason top-five options on their bye weeks, Travis Kelce exited Monday Night Football as the TE32 while three different backup tight ends (Brevin Jordan, Jesse James, and Geoff Swaim) finished the week as top-six options. This only cements the viability of streaming the position, and below we’ll be looking at some options ahead of Week 9.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season continues to progress and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

To provide advice you can implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Week 8 Review

Week 8 was an explosion week in terms of relative no-names at the position littering the top of the leaderboard and we were able to identify three of the top-12 options. The lone whiff was Gerald Everett, who is having a difficult time finding production on his new team, ceding a lot of work to Will Dissly and dealing with an overall lack of offensive firepower with Geno Smith at the wheel. We may need to put expectations on the backburner until Russell Wilson returns some explosiveness to the team.
