Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 12 Targets

It’s Thanksgiving Week and the playoffs are just around the corner. I hope everyone enjoys the holiday while watching the games on Thursday. To say it’s been a wild season, or year, would be an understatement. It’s been stressful for most and, hopefully, fantasy football has been an escape over the last few months. I appreciate everyone taking the time to read through the recommendations each week and learning with me as the season has unfolded before us. Be safe this week and let’s dive into Week 12.

Week 11 Review

We’re back on track with two Top-12 results to close out Week 11. My biggest miss was not immediately switching my top recommendation to Taysom Hill once the announcement came. To be honest, Sean Payton’s reluctance to name a starter and Hill’s lack of usage as a passer prior to Week 11, cast some doubt on his prospects as the Saints' starting quarterback. However, his rushing ability and the Falcons’ secondary woes should have been enough for him to be a floor play. Regardless, it was a productive week with a couple of takeaways as we head into Week 12.

Deep Plays

Baker Mayfield – 7.1 pts (QB26)
Alex Smith – 8.3 pts (QB22)

It’s now been three consecutive weeks where the weather has played a factor in Cleveland. In each, Mayfield’s neutral passing rate has been well below his seasonal average and he hasn’t thrown a touchdown since Week 7. The Browns are on the road in Week 12 (Jacksonville) which will hopefully provide better conditions for their passing game.

The matchups for Carr and Cousins played out as expected. Carr’s quick-passing scheme combined with contributions from 11 different pass catchers propelled him into another multi-touchdown performance against the Chiefs. Their offense came into Week 11 fifth in yards per drive and came away with points on five of their eight possessions. With Carr performing well, he’ll be mentioned again given their matchup against the Falcons.
