DraftKings Week 2 Slate Breakdown with Cash and GPP Picks

In this space each week, I’ll give my overall DraftKings cash game and tournament strategy thoughts and discuss how players fit into these strategies. By offering a general approach to the week, along with a player pool to consider, you should walk away feeling well-equipped no matter your bankroll strategy or game selection process.

Main Slate Cash Game Strategy

One of the major decision points in cash games this week will be between running backs Alvin Kamara and Todd Gurley. The truth is, there’s enough value at other positions to jam both stud backs in. The obvious tradeoff is a drop off in the floor of the other positions. Whether you prefer to pay all the way up at running back will ultimately determine which of the following players fit into your personal cash game strategy.

Quarterback

Heading up the quarterback field, both in projected value and odds to hit cash game value is Deshaun Watson ($6,300). Playing his first game off a torn ACL, I warned against Watson as a cash option last week—he was without Will Fuller and Bill Belichick was sure to scheme against DeAndre Hopkins. While Titans head coach Mike Vrabel played under Belichick, his defense didn’t show Patriots-like traits against Miami’s lone deep threat last week, letting Kenny Stills get loose for a 4/106/2 line on five targets. Watson did rush eight times for 40 yards last week, alleviating any concerns of limited mobility coming off of his injury. You can fit the Texans quarterback onto a Kamara/Gurley team but know that it will require a full punt across other positions.
