Gray quietly had a solid 2024 campaign, finishing with 40 catches for 437 yards and five touchdowns—good for the third-most receiving yards among backup tight ends, behind only Isaiah Likely and Austin Hooper. He had a memorable stretch in November, posting back-to-back two-touchdown outings against the Bills and Panthers, flashing his red zone utility. With Travis Kelce's efficiency showing clear signs of decline, Gray's role could continue to grow even if Kelce stays healthy. If the veteran were to miss time, Gray would immediately flirt with weekly TE1 status in a high-functioning Chiefs offense led by Patrick Mahomes. His underlying metrics (22nd in YAC/reception, 29th in yards per route run) don’t scream breakout, but he’s an intriguing TE2 dart throw with contingent upside.
