The return of both WRs would be a welcome one for the Colts, especially Pittman. PIttman missed Week 2 but reports said he'd have a shot to play in Week 3 so this is encouraging. The Colts had to roll with Campbell, Dulin and Strachan in Week 2 and were blanked by the Jags. Dulin did post a 5-79-0 line in Week 2 and could still be a factor in the offense going forward.
Pittman had a fantasic start to the season, catching nine passes (on 13 targets) for 121 yards and a touchdown and was set for another strong matchup against the Jaguars. But a quad injury suffered Wednesday caused him to miss practice Thursday and Friday. The Colts were holding out hope he would play Sunday, but they are going to play it safe with their top receiver. The Colts will also be without Alec Pierce. Their current receivers are Parris Campbell, Ashton Dulin, Mike Strachan, Dezmon Patman and Keke Coutee, whom the Colts just elevated from the practice squad. This hurts the value of Matt Ryan, who now sits as QB22 in this week's rankings. Jonathan Taylor remains our RB1 for the week and he could see a heavy workload Sunday.
Now that the free agent wide receiver market has all but dried up, Ballard has to answer for the lackluster options that new quarterback Matt Ryan has at his disposal after Michael Pittman and Nyheim Hines.
Whether Ballard would like to believe it or not, Indianapolis may have the least amount of WR depth in the league. For fantasy purposes, this could make Michael Pittman an absolute ball hog in the vein of Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley, all of whom had incredibly high-usage seasons with Matt Ryan at the helm.
With 8:46 left in the fourth quarter, Hilton went up for a pass from quarterback Carson Wentz but hit his head hard on the turf as he came down. He was able to walk off the field under his own power. Hilton missed the first five games of the season while on IR after neck surgery. Then after playing in Week 6, Hilton was out for Week 7 with a quad injury, the story said. Pittman and Pascal would be the team's top-two WRs with Hilton out in a matchup against the Jets.
