Following a one-day holdout, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has agreed to a four-year contract according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Twitter.

“Dolphins made concessions to make deal palatable, but Ryan Tannehill was unwilling to miss more time to continue fight on offset language.”

Financial terms aren’t yet available but Tannehill will immediately report to training camp and will compete with David Garrard and Matt Moore for Miami’s starting quarterback job.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins’ starting quarterback job is between David Garrard and Matt Moore. While receivers have raved about rookie QB Ryan Tannehill’s arm strength, he reportedly is having trouble with the speed of the game. He’s taking too many would-be sacks during practice and his timing has been off with his throws. Thus, look for Garrard or Moore to man the starting position until Tannehill is ready to take over.

The Palm Beach Post reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Saturday that he’s hearing David Garrard has the early advantage in the battle for the starting quarterback job.

As for rookie Ryan Tannehill, he’s not in the running right now due to his untimely mistakes, particularly when throwing into traffic. Coach Joe Philbin and his staff have made it clear that turnovers will not be tolerated, so for now at least Tannehill will continue his apprenticeship as the No. 3 guy.

Fantasy Impact:

No matter who wins the job, don't expect them to be ranked too high on our QB board, and chances are they won't even get drafted. But the key thing to note here is it sounds like Tannehill has some work to do before moving up the depth charts and having fantasy value.
