Lions rookie third-round pick Derrick Williams replaced veteran Dennis Northcutt as the team's No. 3 receiver. Williams assumed that role against the Seahawks and didn't get any passes thrown his way.

Schwartz wouldn't say if the switch would continue into next week.

"I don't know. Derrick had done some good things and we wanted to get him on the field,'' Schwartz said. "We were trying to feature a two-tight end (formation) and feature Casey (FitzSimmons) as that slot receiver because of some of the matchups he was able to present.

"It put them in a bind of whether they stayed 'regular' or went 'nickel.' We were able to run the ball effectively when they were in nickel.''
