Patriots running back Shane Vereen, who broke his wrist in the season opener against the Bills and was placed on injured reserve/designated to return, is eligible to be activated to the 53-man roster this week.

OC Josh McDaniels will be happy to have him back.

“As soon as he’s ready and able to help us and we are able to play him, certainly he will have a role in the game,” McDaniels said. “He definitely did make a big impact in Game 1.

“I don’t know if we can expect him to do that right off the bat in his first game back, whenever that is, [but] we’ll look forward to having him back.”

Fantasy Impact:

Vereen is eligible to play in Week 11, but it remains to be seen if he will. And if he does, how much he will be used. To make matters worse, the Pats play on Monday night at Carolina, so if you're planning to use Vereen you'll most likely need to have a backup plan, assuming we won't know in advance from the tight-lipped Patriots if he'll be active. Vereen is expected to take work away from Brandon Bolden when he does play.
