2025 Rankings Breakdown: Tight Ends

Our 2025 projections have been released, so it’s time to go position-by-position and briefly explain what I’m seeing as the draft season starts to take shape. This is the third of a four-part series providing an early look at our early 2025 projections.

Changing of the Guard?
Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews finished TE6 and TE5, respectively, last year. Four tight ends in the top eight–Brock Bowers (TE2), Trey McBride (TE3), Sam LaPorta (TE7), and Tucker Kraft (TE8)–were 24 or younger to start the season, though George Kittle (TE1) and one of my favorite draft values, Jonnu Smith (TE4), were 30 and 29, respectively, to start the season. It's worth noting that tight ends tend to age more gracefully than their running back or (even wide receiver) counterparts, so we shouldn’t be completely writing off any aging vets.
