Titans activated RB Tyjae Spears off injured reserve in time for him to make a season debut Sunday against the Cardinals.

We'll see how much run Spears gets, but this is definitely a potential issue for Pollard, who has had great volume, but remains on a bad offense that isn't putting up any points. Spears can be left on benches, but Pollard should be downgraded into RB3-range.

Spears is dealing with an injury and is on IR, missing the first four games of the season. While Pollard should get a nice workload, the team will get other backs involved like Chestnut and Mullings. Those two, however, aren't exactly household names which is why Pollard should be a nice start in fantasy lineups. Last year when Spears was out, Pollard's touches went from 16.4 per game to 24.2, so owners should expect an uptick at least until Spears is back.

Spears will now miss the first four games of the season. It should mean more touches for Pollard. As our own John Paulsen points out, Pollard’s workload increased from 16.4 touches per game with Spears to 24.2 touches in the five games that Spears missed last season.

"One of the things about Tyjae Spears is I heard a lot about Tyjae when I got here, about the type of person and the player that he was," said Brian Callahan this offseason. "And we've had conversations, but he did have a challenging year, both personally and professionally and there was some things that we've had to sit and visit about on different occasions. I give a lot of credit to him because he's had an unbelievable offseason in terms of his energy, his effort, his clarity and what he wants to get done. So I've been really pleased with where Tyjae is at."

The hope for Spears' owners is he'll be a bigger part of the offense this season. While the story goes on to say Pollard had his best year statistically, and is viewed as the starter, the Titans run game overall was not that impressive. Pollard ranked just 19th when it came to gaining 10 yards or more, according to the story. An impressive offseason by Spears is at least a good sign, but right now he's probably not more than a depth piece or a handcuff for most redraft leagues.

The Titans ruled running back Tony Pollard out for Week 17 against the Jaguars with an ankle injury and an illness.

Originally listed as questionable, Pollard now will not travel with the team. This sets Tyjae Spears up for a bigger workload Sunday in a very favorable matchup against the Jaguars leaky run defense. Spears can be viewed as a RB2 with RB1 upside.

Spears was back in action in Week 10 and essentially split the work with seven carries and a team-high 47 yards rushing with three catches for four yards. Pollard out-touched Spears 13-10 in the game. This past week Spears exited early but the running game was held in check. If Spears can't play in Week 12, Pollard would likely lead the way, but it would be a tough matchup against the Texans.

It looks like this could be the Chestnut show, but we won't know until Sunday. If that is the case, this is a situation we should save for DFS contests, not necessarily in redraft lineups.

In a follow-up tweet, Kuharsky mentioned that Burks may be heading to IR, so he can freely be dropped, even in Dynasty leagues.

Pollard should get a massive role this weekend, and profiles as a potential RB1.

The week to week designation means Spears is very much in doubt for Week 7 and could miss more time than that. Any time missed should mean a potential bump in fantasy value for Pollard with RB3 Chestnut possibly also mixing in.

Tyjae Spears will likely be listed as QUESTIONABLE but Brian Callahan expects him to be good to go for the Titans on Sunday.

Spears left the Titans' Week 2 game late, but has still been far out-touched by Pollard through their first two matchups. Pollard has 43 opportunities to Spears' 16, making the latter un-startable in fantasy until he shows he can steal more of the workload. Pollard is a low-end RB2 against the Packers.
