While Kevin Stefanski reiterated he’s thinking week-to-week when it comes to the quarterback position, he noted he’s been pleased with Shedeur Sanders’ progress.

“He wants to continue to get better and better, and that’s the right attitude to have, and that’s why we’ll continue to work,” Stefanski said.

Sanders has completed 51 percent of his passes for 405 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in three appearances so far this season. The story added Stefanski said Sanders "had some really good moments" in his second start of the season last week. One would think the team will lean toward Sanders again in Week 14, but it remains to be seen. Gabriel was cleared to play last week but the team went with Sanders.

When asked postgame if his trust in the run game changed without J.K. Dobbins, HC Sean Payton gave a clear vote of confidence to RJ Harvey.

“It’s nothing to do with the runner,” Payton said postgame. “Nothing.”

“We’ll watch the tape,” Payton continued, asked on his evaluation of Harvey. “But, trust me. It was just looks where the evaluation will be on how we blocked it, and then the scheme, relative to what we were seeing defensively. The runners were good.”

Harvey is averaging just 3.1 YPC outside the tackles this season the story said, which is a reason why the team has missed Dobbins, who is lost for the season. In two games as a lead back, Harvey is averaging just 2.7 YPC. The story pointed out Harvey has missed some holes as of late, making the wrong cut. In a statement, the Chargers said: “Chargers QB Justin Herbert underwent successful surgery today in Los Angeles to stabilize a fracture in his left hand. Herbert’s return to play is considered day-to-day, and his status for next Monday’s game against Philadelphia will be determined later in the week.” Herbert injured his left hand in the first series at the end of a 1-yard scramble when Panthers defensive back Jeremy Chinn slammed the quarterback to the ground. Herbert’s hand banged against the turf, the story described. Herbert owners could be in a tough spot since the game is on Monday night, especially if Herbert comes down to a game-time call. Hopefully we know more as the week goes on.
