NE: Mayo at practice, Moss, Taylor absent

The Patriots are practicing on the lower field behind Gillette Stadium as they begin preparations for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Linebacker Jerod Mayo (sprained MCL in his right knee) was present for the media portion of practice, sporting a knee brace similar to the one that quarterback Tom Brady wears.

It marked the second straight practice for Mayo, who returned to practice last Friday for the first time since spraining the MCL in the season-opener on Sept. 14.

However, both running back Fred Taylor and wide receiver Randy Moss were not present for the media portion of the session, which included stretching, special teams work and individual positional drills.

Newly-signed linebacker Bruce Davis was also on the field for practice, which was held in full pads.
