Seahawks RBs Chris Carson and Travis Homer are questionable for Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers, according to the team's injury report.

Carroll also said that Travis Homer will play, so the worst case scenario is the Seahawks are short their top two backs. Homer and Dallas will have value as members of the offensive juggernaut that is Seattle. The 49ers are also short many of their best defensive players in Week 8.

Veteran Carlos Hyde and rookie fourth-round pick DeeJay Dallas were their only available tailbacks by the end of Sunday night's game, after Chris Carson and Travis Homer went down hurt. But HC Pete Carroll is unsure of Hyde's status for this week due to tightness in his hamstring. Carson will have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury and how much time he could miss, Schefter said. If Carson can't go, Hyde would get the start and likely a big workload in a tough matchup against the 49ers. Depending if Carson misses time and how much, guys like Homer and Dallas could also see work. Those who follow the team also seem to indicate they are saving Penny for an injury situation so it's possible if it's long term Penny could enter the picture. But for right now, Hyde is the guy to own.

Rashaad Penny staying on the shelf is problematic because backup running back Carlos Hyde is dealing with a shoulder injury that has kept him out of the last two games. Chris Carson is more than capable of carrying the load offensively with Travis Homer spelling him and assuming the third-down duties, but Hyde is a better runner than Homer, and if something were to happen to Carson, the veteran Hyde is more equipped to be a No. 1 guy. Homer has 15 carries for 58 yards and is yet to run for a first down this season.

We had a report a bit back that said the Seahawks were in no hurry to activate Penny, and would rather wait it out and wait for an injuiry. But this story feels it’s surprising Penny isn’t able to practice yet. It’s been 316 days since his season-ending knee injury and the progress updates from HC Pete Carroll have been fairly positive, the story said. Carroll was quoted as saying it's not clear yet when Penny will be back, adding, “We’ve waited this long, we’re going to make sure these guys come back and there’s no question about their return.” This falls in line with the report we had a week or so ago.
