Dan Campbell said Jahmyr Gibbs had "a really good day" of practice Wednesday, got a breather yesterday. Said he can't say with any certainty whether Gibbs will be a go Sunday.

The Lions activated WR Jameson Williams from his suspension and also downgraded RB Jahmyr Gibbs to doubtful with a hamstring injury.

Williams’ suspension was ended two weeks earlier than originally scheduled after the league adjusted their gambling policy and punishment guidelines. Williams will make his season debut Sunday against the Panthers, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll play with the Lions’ 2023 first-round pick quite yet. Gibbs is doubtful with a hamstring injury and being downgraded on a Saturday almost always means he won’t play. That makes David Montgomery, coming off his big day in Week 4, a very strong start this week.

Rookie Jahmyr Gibbs had a fantastic role in his game without Montgomery, handling 18 opportunities for 82 total yards. If Montgomery is a go, he will very likely take back control of the majority of early-down snaps. If he's out, Gibbs is an RB1.

With Montgomery out in Week 3, Gibbs got 17 carries and went for 80 yards. Reynolds and Knight each got three carries. If Monty is back for Week 4, a Thursday night game, expect him to go back to getting a bulk of the carries with Gibbs mixing in and perhaps getting more targets in the pass game. Gibbs had just one catch in Week 3. Montgomery carried 21 times in Week 1 and 16 in Week 2, scoring a TD in both games.
