Steelers WR Chase Claypool (toe) is week-to-week after expected to potentially miss the remainder of the season.

The Steelers are hurting for pass catchers, but the good news is Claypool is not lost for the season.

Steelers TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) will miss Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns.

Ebron was hurt during practice and will aim to play Week 9.

According to The Athletic, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth has looked more impressive than Eric Ebron, both as a receiver and a blocker.

Freiermuth has outplayed incumbent starter Eric Ebron, throughout camp and appears ticketed for a meaningful role. Ebron remains penciled in as the starter, but this is evidence that the rookie may push him for the role sooner than expected. The Athletic noted that the Steelers frequently use two tight end formations, so who the starter is in name does not matter as much as it may for some other teams. Ebron is currently our TE24, but should Freiermuth get the tap as the starter at some point leading up to/or during the season, he will boast higher weekly upside. This is a situation to monitor.

If tight end Pat Freiermuth has any ability to block whatsoever (which we don’t quite know yet), he’s going to be a hell of a player as early as this year.

He has proven to be a tough matchup for linebackers and safeties, Kaboly went on to say. His signature so far is the double move.
