Colts QB Carson Wentz is trending to start Week 1. Chris Mortensen of ESPN tweeted Wednesday morning that Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger are practicing/competing for the back-up quarterback job, which puts Wentz's recovery timeline closer to five weeks than 12 as originally expected after foot surgery.
The same goes for OG Quenton Nelson who underwent the same surgery days later. While a return for the start of the NFL season is the best case scenario for Wentz, concerns about his mobility and game readiness will deservedly be questioned. A healthy Wentz is also great news for the offensive weapons on the Colts.
