Broncos trade for TE Vernon Davis

Vernon Davis is on the move and Peyton Manning has a new pass-catching tight end at his disposal.

The Broncos have agreed to trade for the 49ers tight end, Denver general manager John Elway announced Monday afternoon. The teams will swap late-round picks in 2016 and San Francisco will receive the Broncos' sixth-round pick in 2017, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source involved.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news.

"(Davis will) be a valuable addition to our team with his experience and leadership," Elway wrote on Twitter.

Fantasy Impact:

Manning has long had success with pass-catching tight ends, with players like Dallas Clark, Jacob Tamme and Julius Thomas all putting up career-best numbers with Manning. A healthy and motivated Davis could serve as a more capable replacement for Thomas, who left the Broncos for the Jaguars in free agency. Once he learns the offense, expect Davis to effectively replace Owen Daniels, who has looked a step slow this season, the story said. Davis now has the potential to be rated as a low-end TE1 option most weeks (once he gets acclimated), and those struggling at the position should at least consider putting in a waiver claim.
