Bengals add S Gabril Wilson on one-year deal

The Bengals signed strong safety Gibril Wilson to a one-year contract. Wilson, who is entering his seventh season, started 14 games for Miami last year and had 93 tackles with eight passes defensed. He spent his first four seasons with the Giants before being signed to a big-money deal by Oakland in 2008. He was cut in the offseason to clear cap space.

The scouting report on Wilson is that he is a great run stopper with average coverage skills in two-deep. He also has good form tackling and is pretty good as a pass rusher. ProFootballFocus, which grades players, had him struggling at the beginning of the season (he graded poorly in the first three) before rebounding and playing better late in the season. His season-ending grade of 2.0 ranked 15th among safeties. The top-ranked Bengals safety last year was Chinedum Ndukwe (34th, -0.8).
