Should Vikings Percy Harvin miss the Bears game, Pro Bowler Sidney Rice could serve as a formidable backup plan. Rice is inching closer to action after missing the first half of the season because of a hip injury.
Childress said Rice "practiced very hard" Thursday.
"I'd be interested to watch him come back again tomorrow," Childress said.
Rice is still on the physically unable to perform list. The deadline to activate Rice for the Bears game is 3 p.m. Saturday.
Quarterback Brett Favre (foot/elbow) practiced in a limited capacity, his first action of the week.
